project: DRAT HQThe Green BuildingLocation: Tel-Aviv, Mediterranean coastal area. The green building, planed as the headquarters of the DRAT (Dan region association of towns) for environmental issues and sewage, represents the energy concept in its construction. The building incorporates passive energy conservation components which reduce energy consumption in comparison to standard Israeli office building. The buildings energy systems are designed to integrate various energy conservation equipment and sub-systems The design concept can be adopted for any volume of office & multifunction building. All the passive and active cooling & heating systems can be applied in new business and commercial building in the center of Israel, where most of the future building developments areas are planed in the next 25 years, with a major influence on the most populated region in Israel. The Energy ConceptBuilding Construction will incorporate passive energy conservation components which reduce energy consumption in comparison to standard office buildings in Israel, such as: high level of thermal mass, insulation of walls and roof, double-glazed windows without thermal bridges in the window frames, south facing extra low U-value facade which will be equipped with three layers of glass (dynamic façade) comprising an automatic shadowing element and ventilated space between inner glass pane, natural lighting, natural ventilation of public area. Energy Systems are design to integrate various energy conservation equipment and sub- systems: - Air conditioning: High efficiency electrical chillers, with reversible heat pump operation, cold storage, radiant cooling from thermal storage in walls, use of cold beam technology, variable speed fans and pumps with high efficiency motors. - Lighting: High efficiency lighting fixtures and lamps, controlled circuits according to lighting intensity. - Alternative and Renewable Energy Supply: Co-generation or Trigeneration (combined heat and power - CHP - for space cooling though the AC system with absorption chiller for heating and for electricity production). Renewable energy (solar PV system for electricity production, solar thermal collectors for domestic water heating and for desiccant dryer refreshing, and solar thermal concentrating collectors for absorption chiller operation). Chiller heat recovery systems. BenefitsReducing the energy consumption. - Better thermal and visual comfort. - Increased occupants working performance. - Contribute to global energy conservation achieving world sustainability. - Reduction of pollution and urban warming. Additional benefits: environmental improvement, comfortable for people, demonstration of energy saving methods and technologies.
